Uttoxeter-based retailer, The Hot Spot, opened over 35 years ago and was one of the first stove retailers in the country.
The renowned stove outlet changed hands over 12 years ago, when it was bought by husband and wife team, Howard and Dit McCallum. During their tenure the business has evolved from High Street store to a large showroom with 140 displays and customer parking on the Dovefields Industrial Estate.
Now that retirement beckons for the couple, the new owners are delighted to announce their stewardship of the business, which will retain the same name: The Hot Spot (UK) Ltd.
Graeme Owen, who has worked at The Hot Spot for nearly 10 years, has completed a management buyout of the business, along with his American wife Laura and they’re both looking to retain the family feel of the business along with its well-established ethos of supplying high quality stoves and cookers together with great customer care. Between them they have exceptional knowledge of the stove market.
The couple are planning an extensive enhancement of the showroom, which will be unveiled to the public in time for the new heating season.
For now it’s business as usual.
